Hey! Here's what changed across the coding agents we track from Oct 12 to 18. Breaking stuff first, then the rest.

Breaking changes

  • Claude Code v2.1.300: claude remote-control dropped the --sandbox and --no-sandbox flags, and passing either now exits with an error. Set sandbox.enabled in settings instead. Details

  • Cline CLI v3.0.72: plugins now run in a worker, and CLINE_PLUGIN_MODE=in_process is no longer supported. Details

  • Goose v1.55.0: background subagents and the orchestrator were removed, and Doctor is now session-only. Details

  • Hermes Agent v0.22.0: the idle/daily session_reset modes are retired, so chats no longer reset on a timer. Plugin authors lose the old compatibility import layer, hermes sync, and the bundled tirith scanner. Details

  • Pi v1.2.0: the theme schema moved to https://pi.dev/schemas/theme.schema.json, and pi mcp list --json now reports resources: true instead of resource counts. Details

Retirements and deprecations

  • GitHub Copilot: selected models will be deprecated across all Copilot experiences on November 16, 2026. Check the post for the list. Details

  • Claude Design: Claude Code v2.1.302 added a notice that standalone Claude Design (claude.ai/design) closes by December 14, 2026. Details

  • Claude Code v2.1.299: bold on a mod's Text is deprecated in favor of weight. Details

  • OpenAI: the deprecations page changed a few times this week. The Oct 18 edit removed the lines mentioning gpt-4-1106-preview and "gpt-5 or gpt-4.1*". We only see the page diff, so check OpenAI's page for what it means. All breaking items

Plans and pricing

  • Codex: the pricing page changed on Oct 17, but the diff we captured is only navigation links (Computer use, Windows app and CLI deployment, a security cookbook), with no price changes in it. Details

  • Goose v1.55.0: cost estimates now apply long-context price tiers. Details

  • Hermes Agent v0.22.0: the model picker shows how much of your subscription is left and when a rate limit lifts. Details
